Each ten-session workshop programme will be held in venues across the county of Derbyshire.

1. Enrolment session

Meet with the project team and other participants to learn about the programme. We will be finding out more about you and your business ideas to tailor our delivery to meet your individual needs.

2. Is self employment for me – Discover your business goals

Start to decide what your business could look like and what you want it to achieve, by assessing your skills and sharing your vision and goals. This workshop gives you solid foundations for your business plans and the springboard to develop your business idea.

3. Business basics

Learn about business models and legal structures to decide the best way to establish your business. You will gain an understanding of all your legal requirements and discover the support available to you.

4. Customers & competitors

We will give you the tools to assess your marketplace, define your target market and learn what your competition looks like to ensure your new business will flourish and thrive. Discover what can set you apart from the competition and define your unique selling points.

5. Sales and marketing

Discover effective marketing techniques to identify your best customers, understand their needs and design your business around them. Learn how to create sales and marketing plans providing ongoing support for your venture.

6. Financial planning

Learn how to ensure financial stability through identifying funding options, start-up costs and expenses. Start to create cash flow forecasts and understand basic accounting methods. We will show you how to keep effective records along with the key considerations for pricing your products and services, putting you on the path towards sustainability and profitability.

7. Laws & legislation

We will guide you through all the laws and legislation you need to start your business on a legal and compliant basis from the start. We will share with you information on the wealth of support available to navigate your business with ease and efficiency.

8. Business planning

Nail your market research, define your unique selling point and create the image you want your business to have. A workshop to build on the progress you’ll have made by this point.

9. Enterprise graduation

We offer you a fantastic opportunity to celebrate your progress through sharing and perfecting your business ideas in our Enterprise presentations.  We support you in developing innovative action plans detailing the next steps in your business venture.

10. IT workshop

Learn how to reach out to your customers by creating your online presence. Harness the power of social media, making it easier for your customers to find and connect with you and direct them to your website.  We’ll share with you the tips and tricks to exploit social networking and ensure your website delivers everything your business needs.
